Nuclear Reactors

The Australian Nuclear Association supports the use of:
  • research reactors as a source of neutrons for research and for production of radioisotopes, and
  • nuclear power plants to produce electricity.

Time lapse of Sanmen AP1000 site – Sanmen NPS will be the first AP1000 PWR on line.  View this time lapse of construction using PowerPoint 2010 or later in slide view.  The contract for the two Sanmen units was signed in July 2007, construction started in 2009 and both units are scheduled to come on line in 2016.
